As Silvia Rosenthal Tolisano states on her excellent blog, “Hyperlinks make the World Wide Web what it is. If links did not exist, EVERY web page would be a stand alone.” Hyperlinks connect everything. They are what makes the web work, and this interconnectedness is what makes the web so powerful. For example, in this contemporary article by Laura Bates about the 5 best collections of EdTech resources on the always useful Fractus Learning site, it is the hyperlinks that make the article useable for teachers. We can immediately begin to explore in the directions we are pointed, and hopefully find something useful!
Also, as we have already discussed in this course, as users of the internet, we have the responsibility to attribute anything we ‘take’ to its rightful owner; hyperlinks enable us to do this.
